About Anca

About Anca – my approach to counseling is eclectic and tailored to each individual, as I believe everyone deserves the best methods and support on their journey. I blend elements from the Ericksonian method with various techniques from CBT, DBT, trauma therapy, psychodrama and hypnotic trance. I view counseling as a dance, where both partners play a vital role. At times, the client guides me in understanding their needs, while at other moments, I help them uncover their own path toward their true goals.

Occupational Mental Health challenges:

My journey to becoming a psychologist was shaped by seven years in the corporate environment, where I managed teams of up to 12 people for large corporations. This experience honed my ability to identify individual strengths and guide others through career coaching, helping them unlock their true potential.

I specialize in counseling for burnout, as well as addressing a range of work-related challenges such as workplace bullying, stress management, job dissatisfaction, and interpersonal conflicts. My goal is to empower clients to establish a strong work-life balance and protect their boundaries while excelling in their careers.

With a deep understanding of the dynamics of management and middle management, I provide tailored support to individuals navigating the complexities of their professional lives. By combining my corporate experience with my passion for mental health, I help clients thrive both personally and professionally.

adaptability as a Resource:

Many expats may not realize that they statistically face a higher risk of experiencing mental health-related issues. I help clients understand these challenges and address them by harnessing their inherent adaptability. Every human being is adaptable by nature; it’s simply a matter of uncovering, internalizing, and acting upon those resources.

My passion for social studies and diverse religions has enriched my ability to work with various cultures, allowing me to connect deeply with clients from different backgrounds. In expat counseling, I focus on helping individuals navigate the unique stresses of relocating, from cultural adjustments to feelings of isolation. By recognizing and utilizing their adaptive strengths, clients can develop resilience and find their footing in a new environment.

Together, we explore not only the difficulties they face but also the rich potential for growth and self-discovery inherent in their experiences. My goal is to empower clients to embrace their journey, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being as they adapt to their new lives.

“Each person is a unique individual. Hence, psychotherapy should be formulated to meet the uniqueness of the individual’s needs, rather than tailoring the person to fit the Procrustean bed of a hypothetical theory of human behavior.”

– Milton Erickson

greatest quality of being human is adaptability

I believe that the greatest quality of being human is adaptability. Life often takes us on unexpected journeys, and discovering our own adaptable resources is essential for navigating challenges.

I grew up in a small village in Romania, surrounded by nature and animals, where I found solace in books. My favorite was “Heidi,” which sparked dreams of the Alps and a desire to explore beyond my home. Eventually, I moved to Switzerland, fulfilling that childhood wish and learning firsthand that life can lead us to extraordinary places.

From an early age, I was drawn to understanding people, which led me to pursue a career as a psychotherapist. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Bucharest, followed by a Master’s in Psychoanalysis and extensive training in Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. Currently I am a student of Psychodrama School in Berlin.

In my work, I support individuals and families facing the trials that come with adapting to a new environment. The expat experience can be overwhelming, often leading to crises that require resilience and understanding. My mission is to help others tap into their adaptability, find balance, and reclaim their joy. The more we can embrace our capacity to adapt, the more fulfilling our journeys can become.
