Stay sane at work – EAP

Excessive workload? Learn how to cope with work stress

Stay sane at work

International assignments and cross-cultural workplaces are among the most demanding environments in which people are asked to perform. Expat employees face pressures that go far beyond the typical workplace challenge — relocation stress, cultural adjustment, language barriers, family strain, and the psychological weight of being far from their support network. When these pressures are left unaddressed, the consequences for individuals — and for organizations — are significant.

Burnout, absenteeism, reduced productivity, poor decision-making, relationship breakdowns, and early repatriation are all direct costs of unmanaged employee mental health. The organizations that recognize this — and respond with meaningful, accessible support — protect their people and their investment.

For individuals too!

You do not need to be referred by your employer to access support. Whether your company has an EAP arrangement with us or not — if work is affecting your wellbeing, you are welcome to come to us directly. Many of our individual clients are professionals navigating workplace stress, burnout, or difficult working relationships entirely independently. No referral needed. Full confidentiality guaranteed.

For Organisations

We offer flexible EAP partnership models to suit organisations of all sizes — from small international teams to large multinational corporations. All partnerships include a clear referral process, a named point of contact at our practice, and regular anonymized reporting on service utilization.

Why Expat Psychologist

We are not a generic EAP provider. We are the original expat psychology practice — founded in 2009, before the field even existed — and every member of our team is clinically trained in the specific psychological challenges of international and cross-cultural professional life.

We understand the pressures that accompany high-performance international careers. We understand the impact of relocation on partnerships and families. We understand the cultural complexity of multicultural teams. And we deliver support in the employee’s own language.

Your employees will not have to explain their world to us. We already understand it.

What our EAP includes

Part of the original Expat Psychologist practice, founded 2009.

Our EAP provides confidential, professional psychological support to employees and their families — delivered by multilingual, FSP registered psychologists who specialize exclusively in the expat experience.

Confidential individual therapy — employees access one-to-one psychological support for any personal or work-related challenge. Sessions are entirely confidential. Neither attendance nor content is ever disclosed to the employer.

Couples and family support — relocation affects the whole family, not just the employee. We extend support to partners and family members who may be struggling with the impact of the move.

Psychological assessment — where needed, we provide clinical assessments for burnout, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other conditions — with formal written reports suitable for occupational health and HR purposes.

Crisis support — rapid-response psychological support for employees following a critical incident, personal crisis, or acute mental health episode.

Flexible access — sessions are available in person in Zurich, Zug, and Geneva, and online for employees anywhere in the world. We work around demanding international schedules.
