Do your emotions feel difficult to manage — or hard to understand?
Emotion regulation assessment
Emotional regulation can be one of the most quietly challenging aspects of life abroad. The constant demands of adaptation, the loss of familiar coping routines, and the pressure to function effectively in an unfamiliar environment can all disrupt how you manage your inner world.
Understanding how you regulate your emotions — and where specific difficulties lie — is a powerful first step toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and wellbeing.
What the assessment Involves:
Using the clinically validated Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS), our assessment identifies specific areas where you may be struggling with your emotional life. It evaluates:
- Emotional awareness and understanding — recognising and making sense of your own emotions
- Acceptance — the ability to accept emotions without judgment or self-criticism
- Impulse control — managing behaviour when emotions run high
- Access to coping strategies — having effective tools available when distressed
- Emotional clarity — knowing what you are feeling and why

What Happens After the Assessment
The results do not label you. They give you a clear, evidence-based picture of your emotional patterns — and a foundation for building healthier ways of coping and relating.
Following your assessment, one of our psychologists will guide you through your results in a personalized feedback session — helping you connect the findings to real-life situations and challenges. From there, we develop a tailored plan to support the specific areas where you would benefit most.
It is a professional clinical assessment conducted by a qualified, registered psychologist who understands the particular emotional demands of life.
